Winter Sports – Dressing Basics
You have had enough of work and the tension and pressure is troubling you too much. You need a break and you decide for a winter vacation. To fully enjoy a winter vacation without trying out some winter sports is unwise so you decide to try skiing for the first time. You may also try snowboarding or ice hockey if you are interested but you need to be fully prepared for your sporting adventure. Snow is beautiful and a view of those lovely snowcapped mountains is truly breathtaking but skiing or snowboarding will be great fun only if you keep yourself warm and dress to fight the cold.
As a winter sports beginner you need to have firstly UV rated goggles or sunglasses not just to look cool and attractive but mainly to protect your eyes from the UV light. You need to understand that UV light can damage your eyes causing sun blindness or even serious cataract problems. Try to procure UV sunglasses with 100% protection and these may not be very costly. We need to know that we lose most of our body heat through the head. To avoid that you need to procure a skiing hat which will keep you warm even in the coldest temperature. You can get one with additional ear protection. Since it is a winter sport you obviously need gloves to keep your hands warm. A very good pair of gloves may be expensive but it is worth investing since you would need one that is flexible, is waterproof and breathes well. We always feel that sunscreen is not required for a winter sport but you are wrong, 20 minutes on the slopes on a hot sunny day and you at the risk of sunburn so apply sunscreen always. It goes without saying that you would need waterproof jacket and pants to keep yourself warm and comfortable even in a very cold weather. |
